PAYING RENT

Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority (CKHA) now offers three different options for you to pay your rent.

Check or Money Order:

If you choose to pay with a check or money order you may continue to make payment to the property manager during regular office hours  After office hours you can place it in the drop box at each office or mail in your payment to PO Box 86, Charleston, WV 25321. Please ensure you are mailing your rent EARLY to allow three to five business days for delivery and processing.

Online Rent Payments

Bank Account Draft – Electronic withdraw from your checking or savings account (no cost to user):

Residents can make rent payments using an e-check. Paying your rent online is quick, convenient and secure and can be completed through your computer or mobile device.

To make an online payment you must register with your unique member ID that will be mailed to you or can be obtained from your property manager.

Credit Cards - Online using a credit card (3.5% of the amount rounded up to the nearest $.95):

Residents can make rent payments using a credit card through your computer or mobile device.

 ·      There is a convenience fee of 3.5% for each payment made using a Visa, Master Card, Discover Card or PayPal  account.

The fees are charged by our third-party vendor and no portion of these fees are being paid to CKHA.

Debit Cards - Online using a debit card ($6.95 charge per transaction):

Residents can make rent payments using a debit card through your computer or mobile device.

 ·      There is a convenience fee of $6.95 for each payment made using your debit card account

Pay at a CheckFreePay Location

CashPay - Pay your rent with cash ($4 charge per transaction):

Now you can pay your rent with cash at any CheckFreePay location. Find your nearest location at www.paylease.com/cashpay/locations and then follow these steps:

·       Obtain your unique member ID from the letter sent to you or from your property manager, then visit the CheckFreePay retail location of your choice.

·       Present the CheckFreePay agent with your member ID and cash payment. Inform the agent you are making a bill payment to Paylease Community Payments.

·        Collect a receipt and you’re done! Your payment will be electronically sent to CKHA.

Please note that all CheckFreePay payments will include a $4.00 convenience fee.

Please allow 3-5 business days for your bank account to reflect the payment.
